Its a great time to be in the beautful Capay Valley. Our hills are bright green and dotted with rich emerald colored oak trees. The robins and other songbirds have started to arrive and the deer are feasting on the tall grass getting fat and sassy. On our farm its lamb time! We have had almost 100 lambs born and in the early evenings they frolic and race around the pasture. They move in a group – like a school of fish – while running, bucking, leaping, and playing.
Anything higher than ground level becomes a platform from which to play “king of the hill” be it a pile of dirt, farm equipment, or a Mother ewe. It is particularly funny to see three baby lambs standing and jumping on an old ewe who is not particularly pleased with the whole affair.
